In blackjack, the dealer faces from one to seven players by himself. Each player plays alone against the dealer. Well start with the basics.

After you receive your cards, you have to make one of five possible choices: you can hit, stand, double down, split a pair, or surrender (surrendering isnt accepted in all blackjack games). Each player also has to signal what he or she wants to do with his or her hands.

Hit- You dont really like what you see so you decide to take another card

Stand- You decide you like what youve got and dont want any additional cards

Double Down- Only with the first two cards, the player is allowed to double his or her bet and receive only one more card face down. To do this the player must make a second bet that is equal to their initial bet. The player must move the bet into the betting box beside his first bet.

Split a pair- If the players first to cads are a pair, which means both cards are of the same value (having two 3s or two Kings) the player is allowed to split the pair. This means the cards are split into two separate hands, with the player being able to play them independently of each other. In order to do this the player must make another bet equal to that of his initial bet.

Surrender- This rule isnt allowed in all blackjack games, make sure you check with your dealer first. Surrendering allows the player to surrender by giving up half his bet and not finishing the rest of the hand after the dealer has checked for blackjack.
